The Nigeria coach says that his team were the better side on the night as they defeated Bafana in the presence of their fans.
After beating Bafana Bafana by 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi told Goal that he expected the victory.
Although
his team started on a slow pace and only won the match during the
second half, Keshi said he knew that his team would win.
“The
win was not a surprise to us at all. I knew that my boys were going to
from the start and so I was not surprised by the results, “said Keshi.
Keshi
also said that he respects South African players but feels that there
is a lot that the coach needs to do for his players to improve.
“They (Bafana Bafana) were a good side but I feel that they can still improve on their standards,” said Keshi.
Keshi said to him this match was about giving his players an chance to practice and get to play with each other.
“Our
main goal is to do well against Malawi and that is what we are worried
about more than anything. The Bafana game was good, but it did not
really challenge us that much,” he said.
